Product Description
When dying cloth, batikwork is the skill of using wax to prevent coloring a specific section of the fabric. Wax-resist dyeing is another name for this technique.
Cotton is commonly used since it absorbs the dyes and does not fade quickly. With a spouted tool called a canting, the wax is dripped in a pattern or design, or printed in a predetermined design with a copper stamp called a cap. For larger patterns, a firm brush is used to apply the wax. After that, the material is dyed, and the wax is removed with boiling water. As a result, the waxed area is a different color from the dyed area. For complicated multicolored designs, the process is repeated with different sections waxed and dyes of varying colours. The designs are usually vibrant and one-of-a-kind.
